Measuring, Modelling and Evaluating Sustainability
The Sustainable Development paradigm, as well as its measurement and modelling, has been evolving from its very first conception to our present days through an integrated process of all dimensions of the notion, namely, the economic environmental social and institutional. For this reason, modelling and measuring are crucial deeds in order to build societies more equitable, fair and shared in common. Hence, it is required to develop clear methodologies and instruments to measure, model and evaluate Sustainable Development.
In this logic the 1st International Conference on Sustainability Measurement and Modelling -ICSMM 2006- is to become an interacting forum for those organizations, institutions, and experts interested in Sustainability Measurement, Modelling and Evaluating issues.
Announced by the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability at the Polytechnic University of Catalunya, the Department of the Environment and Housing of the Government of Catalonia and the Spanish Observatory for Sustainability (SOS), the conference will take place in November 16th and 17th 2006, in Terrassa (located 35 km from the city of Barcelona).
